Democracy for Long Island

Democracy for Long Island is a grassroots organization committed to socially progressive and fiscally responsible government. Democracy for Long Island is a vehicle to mobilize citizens to elect candidates at all levels of government to develop and implement policies that protect human rights and individual differences, respect our environment and restore integrity and honesty to our political system.

Democracy for Long Island has its roots in Howard Dean's 2004 presidential campaign. Dean's campaign inspired many citizens to become involved in grassroots politics and at the conclusion of the campaign, he transformed his organization into Democracy for America with many of the independent grassroots Dean group reinventing themselves around a commitment to progressive values and political action.
